Fantastic food and service, food was cooked to perfection and the best kind of simple for the price. Gave us appetizers as well. The staff were friendly and understanding. This is a very off the beaten track place but well worth the drive if passing by.

Good dishes with homemade flavor. Good starters, good wine, good desserts and coffee with chiripiti 5 star staff. Always attentive and smiling. I highly recommend it.

Completely went out of their way with smiles of their faces for 2 American tourists. This place is NOT a tourist place, we just happened to stumble upon it as we were exiting Douro Valley. We arrived at 945 pm, even though they closed at 10 pm, they still served up, did not rush us, and we enjoyed our meals until about 11 30 pm. The food felt home cooked and was delicious!!! To top it off, the prices was so minimal!!!!! (Especially for US standards). Then, when it came to pay the bill, we didn't have Euros, they didn't accept credit cards, or dollars. Our server then offered to go down with us (in a separate car) to the ATM down th hill and then even led us the way to the main freeway to Porto so we wouldn't get lost in the dark. Thank YOU (obrigada) for going out of your way and thank you to Varanda da Serra for a wonderful, cozy, ambience and meal! Also we loved the very generous pour of house wine!!!
